Community

Family members of our students are essential partners. They serve as board members, volunteer laborers, volunteer classroom and office assistants, chaperones, and fundraisers for the school. We believe that our vision is possible only through parent involvement. All families are required to volunteer a minimum of four hours a year, though many volunteer much more. In the past year alone, 2,979 hours were reported by our 93 families.

The school is fortunate to have a number of distinguished organizations as committed partners including:

  • Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
  • United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) Biological Resources Division (BRD)
  • USGS Hawaii Volcanoes Observatory (HVO)
  • formerly, Keakealani Outdoor Education Center (KOEC)
  • Kilauea Military Camp (KMC)
  • Volcano Art Center (VAC)
  • Volcano Community Association (VCA)
  • Cooper Center Council, Volcano Community Seniors
  • Kilauea Drama and Entertainment Network (KDEN)
  • Friends of The Volcano School of Arts & Sciences
  • Over 20 professional artists and 15 local businesses.
